I replaced the guts of my PC and it seems to work pretty well. But now I discover Windows Home Premium will only use 16GB of RAM (I bought 32GB). And of course now you can't buy Windows 7 Professional any more so I need to decide whether to faff about trying to get an OEM key to install. Or bite the bullet and upgrade to Windows 10. Sigh.

I have had Windows 10 since it came out and it runs beautifully with FSX and P3D. There really shouldn't be any hesitation. I haven't had the first issue. Not one.

Hi Mark, If it helps I've recently replaced my machine entirely - with a spec similar to yours, only I'm using a 1060 instead of 1070. CPU and RAM are the same (I have to be able to run VMs for work). Although my setup is a clean build rather than upgrade to W10, FSX:SE has run well. Have had a couple of issues with vPilot - I have to shut down all add-ons before FSX - but other than that it's been fine. I will say, though, that performance has been fantastic. Whilst I don't own any Orbx addons, I do have EarthSim's IoS scenery pack and with all options installed I still got 45fps on the ground with 3 screens running at 2560x1440 each, whereas my old iMac on a single screen struggled to get past 10fps with only half the options installed. Over clear water on the way to Lands End (default scenery, mind you) i was getting over 115fps! Hope this helps add another data point even if scenery-wise you're in a better state than me Dave

Been running windows 10 64 bit for a while now with no issues. Only thing I ran into was the Saitek Panels don't work with the actual drivers from Saitek, you have to use SPAD, but I mean, that's not so bad.

Well, SPAD doesn't work with my MotiveMods upgraded Saitek radio panel. So that would be a problem. I just bought SPAD.next for X-Plane. It's another purchase to make it work with FSX too
