"You will not see the target altitude change on the display when you change the altitude with the rotary knob."
I identified with this immediately!!
"The Scout uses two Lvars: 'AP_ALT_Hold_Var' and 'apAlt100Knob'.'
The second command (I think) only operates knob animations. I will research the rest of your very insightful comments and see if I can make some changes. It is nice to see you already have experienced some of the issues with the Scout. Here is my Scouts macro: [MACROS] 1=L:AiBarPos=Inc 2=L:AiBarPos=Dec 3=L:cabinAir=Set 4=L:cabinHeat=Set 5=L:NavCom1_on=Toggle 6=L:NavCom2_on=Toggle 7=L:com1WholeKnob=Dec 8=L:com1WholeKnob=Inc 9=L:com1FractKnob=Dec 10=L:com1FractKnob=Inc 11=L:nav1FractKnob=Dec 12=L:nav1FractKnob=Inc 13=L:nav1WholeKnob=Dec 14=L:nav1WholeKnob=Inc 15=L:xpdr1Knob=Dec 16=L:xpdr1Knob=Inc 17=L:xpdr2Knob=Dec 18=L:xpdr2Knob=Inc 19=L:xpdr3Knob=Dec 20=L:xpdr3Knob=Inc 21=L:xpdr4Knob=Dec 22=L:xpdr4Knob=Inc 23=L:XPDR_State=Set 24=L:apAlt1000Knob=Dec 25=L:apAlt1000Knob=Inc 26=L:apAlt100Knob=Dec 27=L:apAlt100Knob=Inc 28=L:adfOuterKnob=Dec 29=L:adfOuterKnob=Inc 30=L:adfInnerKnob=Dec 31=L:adfInnerKnob=Inc 32=L:ADF_On_Switch=Toggle 33=L:FRQ-FLT-ET_Select=Set
I had the 'AP_ALT_Hold_Var' & the 'AP_VS_VAR_INC' and '...DEC' in the list also but couldn't get them to function like I expected.
Thanks for the info, really is helpful.

Ok. I have implemented Linda and the Almost Aviation library again on my test system in order to try the autopilot functions with the Realair Decathlon. I will have to get used to Linda first though. So far, it seems to be working OK.
Your AP Increase/Decrease Target Altitude With Display is pretty snazzy!

I think I've finally finished assigning all of the buttons/knobs to each add-on aircraft (twelve) in FSX and it's all working and actually fun to fly! If I had it to do again, I'd go with a simpler, slightly less "busy" radio stack/autopilot/GPS. I'm sure it looks pretty chaotic to anyone that's viewed it . I plan to dust off the Go-Pro and make a short video of it all in operation. Thanks again Mark for your help and posting your ideas on You Tube.

I noticed yesterday that there's a mistake in the AA library AAL_AP_ALT_Hold_Current_Altitude() function. It will basically do the same as the ARM function, which is wrong. I will fix this in due course. (There are also a couple of other issues with ALT hold, which you will only notice if you have units set to metric or hybrid.)

Scott, I have changed the ALT function so it should work now. In case you want to d/l the new library and try it.

In the meantime, I've been experimenting with different ways to increase the resistance on my current joystick and came up blank! I've researched online and tried a couple of things like resistance bands and changing the current internal spring with no substantial change, or none that I like. I'm considering a different joystick or maybe a yoke but a yoke will require modifying my cockpit. More tinkering than flying... strange.

More tinkering than flying... strange Seems pretty normal to me! It's alsmost a year since I started my cockpit and I've barely flown the finished thing...

May I please get a wiring diagram? (ha,ha)
This is incredible! How did you manage to make the buttons work within the simulator? Are they somehow connected through USB and seen as a game controller by your PC? Man.... that is so impressive.

Hi Chris! Thanks for the kind words! The panel is very fun to use! I used Marks videos as a guide. (His ebook goes into even more detail) The switches/buttons interface with Windows as a USB game controller via small circuit boards and parts that I purchased from Desktop Aviator. FSUIPC/LINDA is the preferred add-on "controller" software for FSX. The cool thing is, Mark (and many others) have already provided helpful downloads when it comes to LINDA so, it's mostly copy and paste. FSX internal button mapping will also see the switch panels as a game controller but it is much more limited than FSUIPC/LINDA, in my opinion.
It's a lot of fun to build! Maybe even more so than flying it! :-)

WOW! Desktop Aviator is awesome! Any other sites like that?! Man this is so cool! How did you learn how to set everything up properly? Any training/tutorial resources?

Hi Chris. Mark uses the Bodnar boards www.leobodnar.com/shop/ . Also, his ebook is very helpful. FSUIPC comes with detailed manuals, and so does Linda. You can download the manuals for free. Both DA and leobodnar websites include some instructions. Post some videos/photos of your project as you progress!

My Yoke, Pedals, and Throttle will be in today according to UPS!! Just looking at your set up above, is that 4th monitor above your panel for instrument display? I think that is the route I will be going as well. Do you like it? What would you change about it if you could? Ever considered putting something over it with cutouts?

Thanks! Money well spent! I feel a little dumb for saying this, but I have seen the twin otter in other places around the web during my search, and didn't know it was yours! It is one of three simulators that inspired me to start this project! What luck that the first forum I signed up for was yours! It is a truly fantastic build! Thanks so much for imparting your knowledge.
