If it can be used for real that is ideal - you should in any case be able to make it to the right sizes by starting from the template. You don't need to draw your own buttons, you can use the illustration with the templates to add the buttons onto your graphics. You should not move the positions of anything - assume your design will need to be used with panels that have already been cut with the holes! I hope this makes sense. If you have any more questions I will try to answer later whenI am not on a stupid iPad! I'm just a little confused with brantleycmd entry.. I can't find this layout on any of the two templates, that's why I'm asking. So, basically, it's the text and background what we need to change? I just used the templates that you find under "GPS + and Autopilot+ Support" > DOWNLOAD: Panel Template. Mark has all the holes lined up, so basically you use that, redesign the layout, text, color scheme, and what not, and go from there! Obviously telling you that gives you an opportunity to beat me, but in the spirit of a shared interest, I'm excited to see what you come up with!! If you look at my entry, you can see the little "x"s that already existed in Marks template! Good luck

I'm just a little confused with brantleycmd entry.. I can't find this layout on any of the two templates, that's why I'm asking. So, basically, it's the text and background what we need to change? Yes, at first sight his panel is different but if you look closely he has all the same holes in all the same places. He has chosen different functions for some of the buttons and moved some functions around. That's okay, provided we can make those functions work on the software side, of course. So what you have to work with is a panel with a fixed layout (it has already been cut) and particular kinds of buttons and rotary controls. From this starting point you have (I think) four choices: (1) Make your panel do exactly what mine does but just look different (nice colour scheme, new graphics, different captions). (2) Make your panel do the same things mine does but with some of the functions moved around between the buttons. (This is more likely helpful for the Autopilot.) (3) Make your panel do different things to mine, but subject to the constraints of the kinds of the components it has on it. (4) Any combination of the above! Hope that helps!

Good luck Yeah, you could actually add the buttons on too if you add that layer in, so we'd get a sense of the finisged panel. This should be easy if you have a layer-aware graphic editor, otherwise it may need a bit of cut and paste...

Here are my entries for GPS+. I don't know if designs like that are even appropriate for panels, this was the first time I designed a panel, it was more for fun than anything else. I like the visuals but I'm not sure how practical is it and how would that fit among other panels. So far my hardware is limited to Saitek Yoke, throttles and rudder but I wouldn't mind to upgrade this config with some more hardware. Sadly I don't have space to build a full fledged cockpit like you did, my singificant other wouldn't be very amused if I'd turn the living room into Twin Otter or something like that If other participants are building actual home cockpits I'd give them priority since they would appreciate and need those components more than I would.
