Hi I'm new as I said but been following flight simulator since long before Microsoft bought them and later dumped them it was sub logic I beleive the first or second time I owned it.
I spent some money a few years back on a bunch of Saitek gear then later bought this folding stand to mount it all to. It works for my situation. For the computer I built a desktop with some wicked gear to push the three 24" monitor plus. I have two other monitors I can add in if wanted. Right now the setup in down while I relocate my Rv I live in.
The saitek gear consists of
yoke
rudder peddles
the power levers that came with the yoke plus another set
two radio panels
the auto pilot panel
switch panel with eng star, flaps and gear
trim wheel separate from the small one one the other panel
i bought one of the shell stands
mounted the yoke to it the rectangle panels are mounted on both sides of it the radios on the rhs the others on the LHS. Still having trouble mounting the lever setups and trim wheel as the brackets to mount those were not what I wanted. I'll be building brackets that will allow me to mount levers on rhs out to the edge of the panels out of way of the yoke the trim shell will be mounted on the LHS . I plan on experimenting with the Saitek Instrament panels in the near future since the price is coming down on them it would be nice to have six to ten or more of them to be able to fly with them and not the gauges on the monitors. I have three or more computers awaiting tasking as needed plus two iPads. We know the more you do the more computers that are needed to do it.
Enought about hardware for software I got way tou much and don't understate the correct use of some of it nut if it said it work to increase the experience I bought it. I'm running fs x gold my favorite aircraft are the cargo type starting with the twin otter up to a c130 and c17 the the granddaddy of the cargo planes the c5. But most of my time is in the twin otter.
i got several scenery packages some air port level some state level plus different texture systems I need to learn what I have and how to use it best.
i plan on making my fltsim setup to be fairly flex able so I can fly several aircraft but my cock pit being generic with switches and tactile tools to make it more realistic but based on my comfort and not a single aircraft. I was going to set it up like a twin otter but that's been done and like I say I fly more that one airframe. I'll take all the pointers that you wish to give that are positive.
