It appears to me based on what you've mentioned that the master PC should have a forward view of some sort and, without TrackIR or a functional physical instrument panel, that forward view would need to be zoomed out enough to see, at minimum, most of the virtual cockpit instruments.... Hi Scott. Although you had a lot of questions in there I think you've talked yourself around to answer all of them! I think you describe the situation with WideView pretty accurately. As for weather, I hear it is now possible to get synchronized weather across the PCs, although I think you have to use a particular weather product (FS Real Weather?)

Haha! Right! I need an editor, or stop writing novels!
The Icarus looks more promising. I wish they had a US reseller.
What do you think is the ideal home display for FSX/P3D?

Well I've managed to create a short video by Action Video now just need to figure a way to post. What it shows is wideview with tracker ir5 using 3 screens as one with matrox triplehead, having only prepar3d 2.5 installed and orbx pnw scenery flying at khqm. I f ly the the Real American Scout

What do you think is the ideal home display for FSX/P3D? Well I haven't tried them all so I can't really answer that! But given what I know I would think Wideview has the edge because it allows much higher resolutions. If we ever get to a PC that can run a 4K TV with good performance, Wideview will be the king. I really do like the look of the Icarus but I think the resolution is too low. I may think differently if I tried it, but on paper I think it's too much of a compromise. I can't help remembering when I tried using my 1080p TV and how poor it was compared to the three-screen setup I went back to.

To Rich: Howdy! Very much interested in your wideview video! Hope you can get 'er posted! Thanks.
To Mark: I'm a bit surprised. I agree with your thoughts about the Avenger resolution but figured my "clarity" issues with the Avenger had something to do with YouTube videos... videos that you might be able to see "beyond" at least in terms of clarity and resolution. So, I really appreciate your thoughts regarding my question. Wideview, on the other hand, seems too complicated/finicky (but so did your panels at first). HMMM... stop toying with me.. Haha! I need more video horsepower! A muscle-car display. Crap... another novel.....

Hey Mark, I've read over your posts on the FTX forum regarding the Avenger and forgot you've mentioned resolution concerns on another post here so, apologies for making you repeat yourself. It's so subjective that it's almost imperative to see the Avenger in person. I've emailed simpit technologies in hopes of finding an Avenger in the US within driving distance (slim chance I know).
Seems racing sims are really pushing the 2D surround tech and they all tend to use larger monitors than mine. I currently use old 22 inch monitors (1680X1050) and occasionally have trouble with performance on FSX in congested areas. Remind me again of your monitor specs? Do you think moving to a 27 inch 1080p monitors would cause a significant performance loss? In regards to your 1080p TV trial, you were disappointed with the clarity right, not the performance? I thought you did a video review of the TV but I can't find it. Scott

Yes, it was just fuzzy in comparison but I'm sure the performance would be good on my present PC. I didn't do a review but you can see the TV in at least one of my videos, the CH Exclipse review. As for performance, I can't say how yours will suffer except to note that you will be increasing from 5.3Mp to 6.2Mp (not allowing bezels), which is a significant increase. Those with modern video cards claim mega-performance even with that resolution, so who knows. My screens are 1280x1024, so I am only pushing 4.2Mp (including bezel management), and I don't get especially good performance.

Yup... you can even make out the TV grid lines (for lack of better term) in the video, that wouldn't work for me. Proximity is the issue with large TV's. Video card HP vs Mp is the other issue I guess. I don't get especially good performance either with 780ti at CPU OC 4.8GHz. Again, subjective. After looking over their FB page, I think the Avenger would work well for scenery and the wow factor would be pretty amazing.
