A couple of close-ups comparing the hand-made and laser-cut acrylics. The main benefits of the laser-cut acrylics (apart from not having to make them!) are the uniform edges and the very precise positioning of the holes. On the hand-drilled acrylics it is very difficult to get the holes precisely where you need them and the finished panels inevitably have a slightly rickety appearance, especially when you have rows of the same component:
