That cockpit is really something!! You need to paint or cover those 2X4 studs though! :-)

Hello Mark, I have watched all of your youtube videos and I notice that you have found a way to map the engine condition levers, I am a fully registered FSuipc user but I can't find any reference to turbine engine controls. I am using the the RealAir turbine duke which has a condition lever just like the Twotter. I would appreciate any help you can offer to enable me to use the spare levers on my Saitek throttle quadrant. Using your great little book "Almost aviation" I have managed to produce a small panel that does a lot of the housekeeping stuff like slewing, pushback, auto engine start and that sort of stuff, so I have almost done away with the keyboard. I may try something a little more ambitious down the road.
All the best from Norman West

I notice that you have found a way to map the engine condition levers Hello Norman. I think the condition levers follow the mixture levers, at least in the Twin Otter. So try setting your mixture levers and see if they work. If not, I will explore further when I have the FSX computer switched on! P.S. Show us your panel!

Thanks Mark, Mixture control was the way to go, its all working fine now. I will post a picture of my panel when I can figure out how to get the picture off of my Tablet and onto my PC.
Cheers

Hi Mark, well I have finally managed to get a couple of pictures of my panel off of my camera and on to my PC but when I came to insert it I am asked for a URL address, and that is a bit beyond me I'm afraid.

Eek, sorry! You can add them as attachments, if that helps. Or you can upload them at fsfiles.org and link to them here...

Hello again Mark. Here, at last, is a picture of my first panel, as you can see I am using it for flight sim non flying "House keeping" chores such as pushback, slewing and view management etc! The panel came about entirely due to your ebook of instructions which I found advertised in the PC Pilot magazine as I was browsing in WH Smith. So you have my grateful thanks for giving me a very interesting project to get stuck into. I am sorry but the quality is not up to much as viewed on this posting, although it looks alright on my PC. The previous problem I had with trying adding a picture, was down to the fact that I had not logged in, and the "Add Attachments" box does not appear unless you have. I am partway through another panel which I am having a bit of a problem with. I will spend a little while longer trying to sort it but if I can't you may well hear from me again.
all the best.

Ha, brilliant! Your way of mounting the panel looks very tidy. I predict your cockpit will now grow like a fungus, with new panels added on every couple of months. Well that's how it is here, anyway

Hi Mark, I haven't posted for some time but you were right when you said my sim would grow "like Topsy" I now have have six panels but I am still struggling to make my sim a mouse free operation. I chose to concentrate on the Beechcraft Turbine Duke, and I have used your Almost Aviation library to set up my auto pilot and my GNS 530, but at the moment I am struggling with the ADF unit which is a Bendix King KR87 TSO, I understand this unit is the same as the one in the Twotter. I have watched all your videos, so I know that you have achieved "Mouse Freedom" How did you manage to get the ADF frequency swap facility working?

I have watched all your videos, so I know that you have achieved "Mouse Freedom" How did you manage to get the ADF frequency swap facility working? Hi, glad to hear your cockpit is growing! Unless it's actually the same code I don't think my ADF routines will work for you because the poke some Aerosoft-specific Lvars. Here's the FRQ function, for example: function ADF_FRQ()
ipc.WriteLvar("L:Mod_ADF_FRQ", 1)
ipc.WriteLvar("L:Mod_ADF_FRQ_but", 1)
ipc.sleep(100)
ipc.WriteLvar("L:Mod_ADF_FRQ", 0)
ipc.WriteLvar("L:Mod_ADF_FRQ_but", 0)
end I was going to write an Air Manager gauge for the Twin Otter's ADF radio as a nice example of how to design something with a state machine, but I discovered it's actually buggy and doesn't work properly. So I have just stuck with using a Saitek panel. It seems that the Twin Otter basically uses the default ADF functions underneath, it just adds extra features like the countdown timer. Perhaps you will find the same for the Duke.

Thanks Mark. If you have trouble with it, I don't think there is much chance of me having any luck.
