Mark,
Could you explain how you connected the small display that you use for your GPS? I also have a 3 display setup, and I was interested in adding a small display for the GPS, and later adding the button controls. Currently, I have 1 video card driving the 3 monitor setup, as commonly described in various forums. I recall seeing a video on your YouTube channel but I don't remember the specifics, or which video it was.
Thanks! Matt

Assuming you have a card with four outputs, you ought to be able to run three of them as one Surround display and the connect the other monitor to the fourth output. For some reason that didn't work for me so I have the fourth display connected to a second (cheap) graphics card. The options should be clear in the nvidia control panel. Not sure if I have a video specifically about this.

Thanks Mark. As with anything to do with this hobby, I suppose the best thing is to just experiment. I have a spare monitor and I am thinking that i'll just play around a bit. The video that I was thinking of had to do with the proper sizing of the GPS window, and you made it work with an add-on piece of GPS software?... Does that ring a bell? I can't seem to locate that video again.
A few quick questions if you don't mind....
- You are running in full screen mode, correct? - Do you have to reposition the GPS window onto the small monitor at every start up? - I assume your main display and your GPS display are running at different vertical resolutions? Any issues with that?
Thanks for all the help!

Oh yes, you mean Part 24 of the cockpit blog. That's a limitation of the default GPS gauge, which doesn't scale the icons and text wit the window size. The Reality-XP GPS scale correctly. There may be other third-party GPS gauges that do. Another way you can get around that is by running the external monitor at very low resolution (if it supports that). Ideally for my 7" monitor it should look okay with the default gauge if I could run it at quarter-VGA (320 x 240), but my monitor won't do that Your questions: - Full-screen mode, yes. - Re-position the window every time, yes. I have always found problems if I try to save the position in full-screen mode and the gauge is outside the main window. However, if you set everything up right then switch to windowed mode and save a situation, the GPS will come back the right size, so you just need to drag it over. - Vertical resolutions are different. I'm not sure why you think this might be a problem.

Great insight, thanks. I think the reason I was worried about the different resolutions was because of early experimentation I was doing with multiple monitors. I believe I was trying to extend the cockpit view across monitors of multiple resolutions. If I remember right, it was causing FSX to crash. Like I said, early experimentations.... I recently stumbled across a gentleman selling donated computers in a parking lot. He had 40 identical Dell 4:3 19" monitors for sale, in pristine condition, for $20 each. "I'll take 3 please....." I'll take a look at that video again tonight!

Still having an issue with adding my 4th monitor. I'd love to hear any suggestions anyone has. The current situation is this: I have a 3 monitor setup which runs beautifully. I'd like to add a 4th monitor to display the GPS by dragging it over. I can connect the 4th monitor to my nvidia card (which says it supports up to 4 monitors) and in Windows everything is fine. The mouse cursor will move across all 4 monitors. I can start FSX and see the 2 displays in the options menu. I should note that I tried this using both the nvidia setup as stated above, and also connecting the 4th monitor to my onboard video; both got me to the initial FSX screen. When I launch FSX, the VC comes up as a VERY tiny window on the 4th monitor and then FSX crashes. My main display is still set at the wide resolution in settings, and my goal is to have my normal 3 monitor display with the 4th monitor "black".
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Is there an fsx.cfg setting that I need to change to force the VC onto my main display? An nvidia control panel setting that I need to change after installing the 4th monitor? I did not change any settings anywhere so far, just plugged the monitor in. Since it worked fine in Windows I figured all is well..
Thanks for any suggestions.

Problem solved. DX10 preview was enabled. Going back to DX9 fixed the problem. I'm sure I read that in a forum somewhere but overlooked it.. Looks like I'll be swimming in DX9 as it was intended
