A friend of mine, and instructor, just sent this.
"We have to get ready for the STOL roundup in LLano. Just let me know when you want to go flying. I've been flying the Lancair and the Champ hard combination to beat. Here's a video of last years competition. Were gonna enter the Champ :-) It's April 10th, 11th and 12th."
The video was taken during our "green" season! Not sure where they found all that water! Apparently, the competition began last year. I look forward to going for the first time... just a short drive away! Cool.

Scott, you win. There's nothing 'almost' about that!

Scott, you win. There's nothing 'almost' about that! Haha! Well, it's still "Almost" for me! I won't be flying or competing. No longer current or own an aircraft. Watching videos like that, and probably going to the competition, fires me up about flying again though.

The two guys that are going to compete in the Texas STOL contest Saturday (if weather permits) also had some fun in this recently:

Weather limited the number of planes to about thirty or so. In the Sport Class, Cody took first in the obstacle and Brent third in STOL. Of the high performance Experimental aircraft there, they were flying a 1946 Champ with no flaps, a relatively lower HP engine, and each carried a younger co-pilot! Not too bad at all!
