Hi Mark, I am planning a couple of panels and want to include backlighting. In both the book and the videos (all good and interesting) I can't seem to find out how you eventually decided on an illumination system. Can you tell me how you did it? All I can recall was a video where you were experimenting. Also and this may seem a stupid question I am looking at a lot of other people's projects but it's never easy to make out what size switches they have used. Are they miniature or full size toggles? Cheers, Roger

I never used backlighting in the end. I made backlit indicators in my autopilot panel, which was done by cutting out bits from the paper I used to print the graphic and then using text printed on a transparency and using a piece of tracing paper as a diffuser. The lights are individual LEDs. The best way is to find a place that will do coated acrylic and laer-etch your graphics into the surface. I have seen some Youtube videos of a guy who built some (I think) A10 panels this way, and it looks amazing.

It looks pretty good though. Thanks. Was the question about switches too dumb?

Mark, As soon as I'd sent that I thought it looked bad-mannered. Sorry. Ignore it.

It looks pretty good though. Thanks. Was the question about switches too dumb? Oops, I missed that. I use both - many of my toggle switches are full-size, but a few are the micro ones. For example, most of these ones are full-size, but the generator and inverter switches are micro.

Hi Mark, Glad you don't seem to have been offended. Thanks for the p[ic. The full size ones seem somehow to be more realistic. Thanks again. Roger
